ETHNICITY, RACE, AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLES (ERIP) CONFERENCE 2022

El tema de la séptima conferencia bianual es
"El poder del discurso vs. el discurso del poder en los derechos indígenas y afrodescendientes en las Américas". ERIP 2022 se llevará a cabo en Casa de la Universidad de California en México, CDMX, México, del 28 al 30 de octubre de 2022 en colaboración con el Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CLAS) de la Universidad de Stanford, el Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS) y la Revista de Estudios Étnicos Latinoamericanos y del Caribe (LACES). Las ponencias se aceptarán en español, inglés y portugués.

The theme of the 7th biannual conference is
"The Power of Discourse vs. the Discourse of Power in Indigenous and Afro-descendant Rights in the Americas". ERIP 2022 will take place in Casa de la Universidad de California en México, CDMX, Mexico from October 28 - 30, 2022 in collaboration with the Stanford University Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS), the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS), and the Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies journal (LACES).

About ERIP

ERIP is committed to scholarly collaboration and exchange of ideas with respect to the study of ethnicity, race, Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants and related issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. The group seeks to promote greater participation of Indigenous and Afro-descendant scholars and intellectuals in the activities of the Latin American Studies Association and, more generally, in scholarly and academic communities.

ERIP has more than 400 members representing diverse academic disciplines, including anthropology, history, sociology, political science, linguistics, Spanish and Portuguese, geography, literature, and the law. Membership is open to all members of LASA.

About the Conference

The ERIP conference is organized by ERIP, the LASA section on Ethnicity, Race, and Indigenous Peoples, Stanford University Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS), the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS), and the Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies journal (LACES). The theme this year is "The Power of Discourse vs. the Discourse of Power in Indigenous and Afro-descendant Rights in the Americas". The ERIP 2022 Conference provides an opportunity for academics, graduate students, activists and practitioners in all the relevant disciplines to present panel, paper, and poster proposals on issues related to ERIP’s mission and areas of interest in the study of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Americas. All proposals, panels, and papers will be accepted in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
